FAQ

What should I wear?

We are a rural church in South Carolina. It’s almost beyond us to be too formal. That being said, there will be folks here that are in their “Sunday best.” However, there will also be folks here who are in slacks and polo shirts. We learned a long time ago to look past the attire and look to the heart. And as Mr. Wesley said long ago, “If your heart beats in love and charity with Jesus Christ, take my hand.” We add, “And sit by me.”

Where do I go when I get there?

If you are arriving for Worship, we would like to greet you in our Welcome Center. The Welcome Center is located just inside the set of double doors on the right-hand side of our larger parking lot. Inside, you will find a greeter and an usher who will assist you in finding your way from there. You may also find a lot of other things going on as well. This tends to be a pretty busy place just before worship begins.

What do you do for kids?

Depending on their age, there are a variety of options for kids during worship. For babies and toddlers, we have a loving nursery staffed by two or more people. Children are checked in and out by their parents /guardians. Preschoolers and school-aged children are welcome to attend our worship service for its entirety. We do have Activity Bags for any children who attend our Worship Service. Please ask an Usher for one of those bags.

We also do something different with our Children’s Moment: we encourage children to bring a bag containing a small item. When they go to Children’s Moment, the Pastor will choose a bag from one of the children, not knowing what is in it, and create a Children’s Moment on the spot with that item, relating it to the sermon for that day. So, bring something and see if you can stump the Pastor.

How long is the service?

Generally speaking, our services fit into the hour-long time frame. And depending on who you ask, that can be a very long hour, or it may fly by. Our hope and prayer is to make our worship services so engaging that you don’t notice the passage of time.

What about accommodating Handicapping Conditions?

Our building is very wheelchair accessible. There are ramps to every area of the building (except the downstairs, which can be accessed from the outside if need be). There is even a lift to assist persons in entering the choir and pulpit areas. We provide hearing assistance devices for people with hearing loss. And there are a few large print hymnals available for those with vision limitations.  Ask the ushers/greeters for either of those.
